DESCRIPTION
The work looks like a hymn to the agriculture labor. The monumental, thorough composition consists of usual village objects but receives a quite special meaning under Sergey’s brushstroke. There is no elegant beauty of fruits and vegetables that we are used to seeing in the works of Dutch Golden Age masters, nor tenderness of impressionists’ still life paintings. This canvas is rather a revolutionary song full of courage so well-known by soviet posters of the 1920-1930s.
