I have had many thoughts… At the very beginning there was St. Petersburg, then my heart added Italy, infinitely beautiful and diverse. Solemn Rome – a city filled with stylish men, fountains, streets, houses and, of course – flowers. Their petals are everywhere: on marble steps, sidewalks, embankments and the odor fills porches, streets and houses. Milan… It reminds me of St. Petersburg… and finally I am inVenice. I spent there only a couple of hours in Winter. It was cold and there was a strong chilling wind blowing. Nevertheless it was a bright day. The sky there looks a bit higher than usual and I got the feeling that the sun never left me. A reminder of the sun was everywhere: on the walls, balconies, channels, small and cozy cafes. Everything kept the heat of the sun. It was sad that I only retained a memory of the summer but I was glad there were not too many tourists.
I had the chance to wander around narrow streets all alone, alone with my imagination. I have been eager to return since then. To return in Spring when it will be sunny but not too hot yet. When starting to think about a new sketch, it turns out to be of St. Petersburg or Venice time and again. Every time I assure myself that the next one should be Rome where I spent much more time and where it was sunny everyday. It will be Rome for sure someday, and not only Rome but there will be a quite different series. For now it is “Two Cities”. Two cities that always live in my heart.
