DESCRIPTION
It is not a big but very expressive portrait of Sergey’s girlfriend. The tradition of portraying relatives and friends is kept by Petersburg artists from generation to generation. Not surprising because the warm and trusting relationships form close communication which help create such works with these people as the models.
In this painting we can see a young woman in homely attire and probably based at home as well. Sergey focuses on the face. He succeeds in this work by portraying the resemblance as well as the slightly worried look of the girl that is so precisely captured. It is a look of a woman who is very interested in seeing the final result of the action. At any moment the waiting may become unbearable for her, no matter where she is: whether at a stylist chair or in her own home on a red pillow.
